BBC and BBC America are teaming to produce a miniseries based on British author Susanna Clarke’s bestselling 2004 debut novel, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Set in early-19th-century Britain, the Hugo Award-winning alternative history follows conjurer Gilbert Norrell and pupil Jonathan Strange as they attempt to bring magic back to their industrial world. The miniseries will air next year in seven hour-long installments on BBC America’s “Supernatural Saturday” block, alongside other sci-fi shows like Doctor Who, whose director Toby Haynes will also helm Strange.
