Russian-American journalist Masha Gessen—author of The Man Without a Face: The Unlikely Rise of Vladimir Putin—will write a biography of alleged Boston Marathon bombers, brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. According to publisher Riverhead, “[T]he book will explain who the brothers were, where they came from, what shaped them, and how they came to do what they appear to have done.” Gessen’s background should help her answer these questions: like the Tsarnaevs, she moved to Boston from Russia as a teenager and later covered the war in Chechnya, gathering useful contacts in their hometown Dagestan.(Photo Credit: Svenya Generalova.)
