No Fault in this Star

Shailene Woodley—2012 Golden Globe nominee for her performance in The Descendants—has been cast as Hazel Grace Lancaster in the film version of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars, a bittersweet young adult bestseller about two teenagers who meet at a cancer support group and fall in love. The 21-year-old actress’ flawless audition prompted director Josh Boone to claim, “it wasn’t until Shailene stepped in front of the camera that I truly saw Hazel for the first time.” Meanwhile, Green himself tweeted: “… Shailene’s love for the book and her understanding of Hazel blew me away.” Woodley clearly has a knack for YA fiction: she’s also landed the role of kick-ass rebel Beatrice Prior in the film adaptation of Veronica Roth’s Divergent.
