Last February, Rob Thomas’s Kickstarter campaign for a film sequel to his acclaimed mid-2000s TV show Veronica Mars raised over $5 million in a matter of days. Now, Thomas has signed a deal with Penguin Random House’s Vintage Books for a two-book sequel to the movie, to be released next spring. “I started my career as a novelist,” said Thomas, in reference to such works as Rats Saw God, Slave Day, and Satellite Down. “I’m thrilled that I’m going to get the opportunity to continue telling Veronica Mars stories in a form I’ve loved and missed.”
