January 18th marks the birthday of A. A. Milne, who is best known as the creator of the beloved Winnie-the-Pooh. In celebration, we’ve rounded up some of our favorite literary bears from children’s books. Fair warning: Some of the fuzzy friends on this list are unbearably cute.

The Big Honey Hunt

Bear(s): Berenstain bears

Best Trait: Good teamwork

Worst Trait: Not great at finding honey in the wild

Ideal Adventure: Going to the grocery store and avoiding bees altogether

Unbearable Cuteness: 7/10

Little Bear

Bear: Little Bear

Best Trait: Very strong relationship with his mother

Worst Trait: Needs a lot of help dressing in a way that is weather-appropriate

Ideal Adventure: Going to the moon and making it home in time for a nice warm lunch

Unbearable Cuteness: 8/10

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

Bear(s): Mama, Papa, and Baby Bear

Best Trait: Very good at customizing furniture to individual family members

Worst Trait: Not very consistent on porridge temperatures

Ideal Adventure: A walk in the woods, followed by a nice bowl of porridge and, hopefully, no revelation that an intruder has entered their home

Unbearable Cuteness: 8/10

Best Trait: Lovable disposition

Worst Trait: Weakness for honey

Ideal Adventure: Hanging out with Piglet, cheering up Eeyore, and maybe scouting out some Woozles: a Woozle-palooza, if you will

Best Trait: Can-do attitude

Worst Trait: Not great at matching buttons

Ideal Adventure: Hanging out in a department store at night, and maybe even jumping up and down on the mattresses in the bedding section.

Bear: Paddington Bear

Best Trait: So. Darn. Cute. Have you seen his toggle coat?

Worst Trait: Sometimes gets lost while shopping

Ideal Adventure: Definitely an outing with the Browns. A trip to the beach? A play? A ride on the Underground? All of the above? Yes please.
