Jen Doll on Weddings and the Importance of Female Friends

Jen Doll has been to a wedding or two. This is the subject, at least on the surface, of her book Save the Date, which chronicles her experiences attending wedding after wedding to see friends and family members get hitched. But beneath this veneer of bouquets and white fondant, Doll spins a deeper tale about friendships, relationships, and the passing of time. Bookish’s Elizabeth Rowe caught up with Doll during BookCon, and chatted with her about what she’s learned from all of the nuptials.

Elizabeth was an American Studies major at Georgetown University, and is currently getting her MFA in nonfiction writing at Columbia University. She spends entirely too much time and money at the Strand, where she once saw Daniel Radcliffe. Her current obsession is the My Struggle series by Karl Ove Knausgaard, and she thoroughly embarrassed herself when she met him shortly after the release of volume four (and she has the photos to prove it).
