Jen Doll on Weddings and the Importance of Female Friends

Jen Doll has been to a wedding or two. This is the subject, at least on the surface, of her book Save the Date, which chronicles her experiences attending wedding after wedding to see friends and family members get hitched. But beneath this veneer of bouquets and white fondant, Doll spins a deeper tale about friendships, relationships, and the passing of time. Bookish’s Elizabeth Rowe caught up with Doll during BookCon, and chatted with her about what she’s learned from all of the nuptials.

Elizabeth is Bookish's Senior Editor and a graduate of Columbia University's MFA program in Nonfiction Writing. She is based in San Francisco and can frequently be found at Philz with her nose in a book. Her current obsession is the My Struggle series by Karl Ove Knausgaard, and she thoroughly embarrassed herself when she met him shortly after the release of volume four (and she has the photos to prove it).
