From Iron to Paper

Following recently deceased former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s instructions that it “not be published in her lifetime,” UK imprint Allen Lane has just released the first volume of journalist Charles Moore’s two-volume Margaret Thatcher: The Authorized Biography. Knopf will publish a US edition on May 21. A product of Moore’s exclusive access to private papers and interviews with family, friends and colleagues, the book not only covers the spectrum of The Iron Lady’s public career—from her entry into Parliament to her victory in the Falklands—but also reveals a private Thatcher who fought with her mother and read Kipling in an uplift pink bra.
