Oscar winner Tim Burton will direct the upcoming film version of Ransom Riggs’ 2011 bestselling novel Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, in which young Jacob follows old photographic clues to an abandoned (and possibly haunted) orphanage off the coast of Wales. The book features eerie historical images collected by Riggs, whose knack for mixing writing and vintage photography also spawned his 2012 collection of captioned everyday scenes from the past, Talking Pictures. Screenwriter Jane Goldman—acclaimed for the X-Men franchise and her adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Stardust—will pen the script.
