Advice Books from the ‘Jersey Shore’ Cast

Cast members of MTV’s “The Jersey Shore” (including Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, who recently gave birth to son Enzo and will share the experience by having it televised on “Shore” spinoff “Snooki & JWoww”) have won fans and detractors alike with their unmistakable aesthetic–abs, poofs and fade-proof tans–as well as their ceaseless partying and infighting. While a Snooki-style parenting how-to isn’t yet in the works, four of the show’s cast-members have already turned their on-camera highlights and rough patches into advice books, covering everything from sex and anxiety to how to steer clear of “grenades.”

“Here’s the Situation,” by Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino
Any fan of “The Jersey Shore” knows that GTL–gym, tan, laundry–forms the bedrock of Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s life philosophy. But in “Here’s Your Situation,” the loudmouth goes further with in-depth tips on grooming, flirting and Italian cooking for newbies and guido virtuosos alike. Sorrentino shares the secrets to getting washboard abs, provides tips for nabbing babes (and avoiding clingers) and even offers wisdom on finding a life partner.

“Control the Crazy,” by Vinny Guadagnino
During the filming of season five of “The Jersey Shore,” Vinny Guadagnino suffered a debilitating anxiety attack that put him on a self-imposed hiatus from the house. Pressured to maintain his outgoing, fun-loving public persona, Guadagnino had suppressed fears and insecurities that he’d harbored for years until they resurfaced with a vengeance. In “Control the Crazy,” he tells readers that owning up to fears and having compassion for yourself is the only way to let down your guard and find harmony with hard-partying friends.

“The Rules According to ‘JWOWW’,” by Jenni ‘JWOWW’ Farley
“Every woman has it in her to ‘WOWW’,” says Jenni “JWOWW” Farley in her book, “The Rules According to JWOWW.” She gives beauty tips to help you lure in your juicehead of choice, bedroom “smushing” secrets to keep him on his toes, the lowdown on how to tell him it’s over–and, of course, how to get back in the game.

“Confessions of a Guidette,” by Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi
What Shore advice bookshelf would be complete without self-help from Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, the littlest housemate, and arguably biggest star, of the show? Her rules are simple–flats are for librarians, never leave the house without a teasing comb and there’s almost nothing worse than being pale–but her message throughout is inspiring. “A guidette knows how to have fun anywhere,” the mom-to-be writes, and doesn’t “care what you think. Unless you’re a mirror. We put on our bronzer and fricken rock our princess status.”
