HarperCollins recently offered 24-year-old recording artist Adele a seven-figure memoir deal. She turned it down. Despite two hit albums, nine Grammys, an Oscar, and several Guinness World Records—including first female to have three singles in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously—the songstress would, “rather wait until she has more life experience.” At least this Brit was upfront about it: Penguin has been after Morrissey’s already complete 660-page memoir for two years now, but the ex-Smiths frontman has been vague regarding his publishing intentions.
