    Some of Tim's Stories
In some of S. E. Hinton?s strongest writing ever comes a profound and wry compilation of fourteen short stories. Terry and Mike are cousins whose families are almost seamlessly intertwined. Raised as close as brothers and living happy childhoods, neither one thinks of what can go wrong. But the unexpected deaths of both their fathers catapult their lives in two very different directions. Terry finds trouble with the law, while Mike lives his life racked with guilt and sadness. In her first book in four years, The Outsiders author S. E. Hinton gives readers a gritty view of how one incident, one tragedy, affects two boys very differently, and changes their lives forever.

A coming-of-age story about some wild teenagers, the book is filled with the requisite gravitas and emotion for classic literature, though the story can be very straightforward and bland. Focusing on some restless boys' gang warfare, the plot is composed with many one-dimensional characters and has a neutered and naive quality about these rambunctious adolescents, likely born from the writer being a 16-year-old girl. Certainly these boys are imbued with interesting and unique levels of sensitivity, though at points their musings become a tad too "emo" considering their roguish backgrounds. While the book is in many ways a fan-fiction love letter to '60s street gangs, it still tells a solid tale filled with youthful action and heart, and is a fine parable about growing up.

The Outsiders looks at maturing among teenagers, and gang rivalry. It has some very sad parts, and the main character, Pony Boy, thinks about the differences between the members of his gang and the rival gang.

THis book is a classic young adult fiction book. THe novel is about a battle between two social classes, the greasers and the socs. A series of events and fights lead up to the 2 main greaser characters running away. They find a burning church and manage to save all of the children trapped inside. They're thought of as heroes in the end. This book is a great read about class struggles and discirmination. It's also a great way for readers to become familiar with other literature such as "Gone with the Wind" and "Nothing Gold can Stay", being that both pieces are central backdrops of the story.
