Watch This, Read That: John Green Gives a Crash Course on ‘Frankenstein’
Ah John Green, everything you do makes us fall more in love with you.
Aside from writing great novels like Paper Towns (soon to be a movie!) and fighting to decrease world suck, YA superstar John Green is known for making YouTube videos with his brother Hank. Beyond their main channel Vlogbrothers, John and Hank have started Crash Course, a channel that aims to educate its viewers on subjects ranging from biology to literature.
In this episode, John takes an in-depth look at Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. And before you give in to the desire to shout, “It’s alive!”—that wasn’t in the book, and neither was Igor. By the end of the video, you’ll know almost every vital factoid about one of the first great works of science fiction (with the rest explained in Part 2 next week).
So watch and you will be entertained while learning, which is always the goal:
And everything’s terrible because that’s what happens when you major in organic chemistry like my brother Hank, instead of something healthy and good.
